Absurd In dreams that you walk in And lift your dishdasha And wiggle your erect penis In jest Not noting the other people in the room – Then I see my profile in red and As I turned my eyes to look at myself The whites remind me Of a frightened ho…

May I wrote you no poetry this year. No laments. No grievances held. There comes a time when the intensity of pain subsides and memories become scars. In time they will become mere thoughts. May a month of farewells and sudden abrupt goodbyes. Cruel se…

Driving west, We used to chase the sun or so I thought. A game to pass the hours: The highways behind us falling into darkness, but I thought if we could go fast enough, Rabi3 , Khamis, Sadis, never stopping, then we could live in eternal sunset. Awa…

Will I at eighty-five begin remembering your face more clearly? And will I relive the lust we shared more deeply more meaningfully than I did during reckless encounters and sensual harvesting of ripe pears? Perhaps memories too will crumble into … Continue reading

don’t whisper my name into any dark veils or call it, aloud, during the prayers you repeat, asking for atonement, don’t begin begging for me to salvage your wounded slab of soul or to darn those holes in your seemingly … Continue reading

Today am gonna make an Equalizer machbus to celebrate eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, .. of forgetting you, and being forgot…. gonna drench that nathri Basmati in tangy, spicy, thick dakous; wash it down with some frothy white laban and dewy Berhi dates. .. I might consider, I may.. if I’m patient enough, starting [...]

Oh April!
You’re such a fool!
White puffy clouds in
a
bright blue sky
moving like bison
going south,
Give me a wild
ride
and
tell me
are clouds like that
springy?
bouncy?
And are there really pink castles
in the air?
Puff!

I wear
no wedding band
But I admire
the hands of men
who do;
More so than the women
who weigh down
nimble fingers
with heavy stones.
Once
in my childish seriousness
I asked Mama:
Where is your wedding band?
And she said:
I lost it while swimming
in the sea..
I never questioned her
again
about the Ring
But now,
when I look at my fingers
fleshy
free
I wonder why
her band was never
replaced?

We drive by
My face turns
to the cold window
and I feel
Trees
stand
proud and
beautiful
in naked
wintry splendor
Thick trunks
shaped by biting
autumn winds
extend intricate limbs
beckoning all
into a warm embrace;
Life lovers,
Seekers of truth
lean against the wide girth
and listen to Earth’s heartbeat.
Trees bend over
to caress the bobbing heads of impish sprites
playing;
Mother leans her back against
the Oak
and eternal strength
convolutes into her blue veins.
Transparent
trees
Beautiful
without adornments.

you wore me out
and now I just want to sleep
want to bury my face into creamy vanilla cake
want to spread my arms wide
and envelope your passion
embrace the edge of your voice
fall into rhythmic collisions
slide uphill
downhill
and snowboard into ecstasy
====
once he was seated there in his office
and stripped
in plain words
he masturbated for her
and I watched
in wonderment
I watched [...]

Dewy rose petals
soft pink;
he has a green thumb.

The other evening
at the Clinic,
some women
sported thongs,
their unpainted toenails
appeared
delicate,
like fresh petals
peeping up
from soft-fleshed
feet;
like a veiled woman
removing her burqa
in an intimate moment.
oh winter,
you were the briefest of
interludes.

Is January a time
Or a place
Or a situation
When fertilized seeds
Send shoots in the soft brown earth
And seek life?

Is February a time
To declare love?
To be brave?
To be true to oneself?

Is March a time
When winds howl?
When you decided to leave?
When conscious becomes heavy?

Is April a time
Of love?
Of sorrow?
Of recovery?

Is May a time
To leave?
To die?
To depart without saying [...]

I am a lonely anteater
moping about
in a slovenly sway,
searching,
thrusting my snout
deep into the  crevices
on my solo way,
pining
for your cuddly caresses
and your clumsy
kisses,
wistful half-smiles
at your
jokey wishes.
You’re gone
that’s it,
banished the mood
and like an anteater
starving for food
I gobble up crumbs
of love
you left along the way
and head back to
the stern
where we stood
that fine day
seeking union
finding freedom
and a comfy place
to [...]

Love knows no boundaries
no space in time,
Grey inches of snow
Speeding through space at the speed of light cherry red
Pink gums solid hopeful sinful
Creamy mocha skin
Trying to catch some eezzee zees
Pigeons flying about in the desert.. homeless
Homeless
why don’t you work woman
Black,
Inferior sage,
Tokyo girl,
Magic mountain queues,
Ramses the second,
Turkish coffee,
Long lashes Turkish delight
Soft
Chabdat al faras
Debate on communist Russia,
You [...]

I woke up
one morning
my mind
singing
boisterously
I used to be LoveDrunk
but now it’s all over
and come to think of it
waking up to music
makes me smile.

Now if I had a cow
or a goat for that matter
I could have made homemade
cheese spreads
to accompany the tangy
cherry tomatoes
I grow in my garden
sun ripened on the vine
====
And if I were as industrious as
the Little Red Hen
I could have grown my own wheat
and milled it into flour
rolled it into dough
thrusting it into the warmed oven
and [...]

there was a plump, red chicken
who scratched the ground

raising some dust,
annoying others
with her scratchy habit.
what is that chicken looking for so intently?

..thirst that is never quenched
regardless of how many drinks
are consumed.
..a flame that won’t be extinguished
no matter how low the embers
burn, or how strong the winds blow.
..a need that is inexplicable
despite reasons that are fully
comprehensible.
..binds that refuse to break free
even when they are unlocked.

Did I
hear
the rumble
of thunder?

See
lightning
white against my
window panes?

Wake up
to soft grey
skies?

Inhale
the scent of
new beginnings?

See
green leaves
pulsating
with new life?

Oh, Summer!
So long,
Too harsh,
and oh, so menacing!
Your time has past.
Farewell
and begone!

she runs wild
a gothic vampire
with wild grey hair in
showstopping fashion
arched like an open jaw.
skinny girl scurrying down piccadilly pavement
her batwings
black
dainty
so real
the boys chase her down the road
but she only wants one boy
and she calls him a Swine!
as she dashes after him in bold black stilletos.

pierce
my heart.
the poetry
stops.
twisted.
garbled emotions
bleed
soak my skin
with anxiety.
clutching
at whispers
threadbare
echoes
of lavender fields
and scent of summer
with you,
coming to an end
so soon.

running
running
on legs
that know no direction.
instinctive
fear
driving me
into the vortex
I dread
to meet.
hollow voices
vacant eyes
empty pages
running
running
into the unknown.

Emotions
as fleeting,
as precious
as gold dust
slipping through
cupped hands.
===
Simple words,
Complex world.
Searching for truths
Unearthing paradoxes
===
a sliver of light
at the silver lining
disappears
as stubbornly
unyielding
as the clam
in my  hands.
